KTC’s Commitment to Empowering Farmers in Malawi
We’re proud to announce that KTC BV has made a contribution to One Acre Fund’s impactful Malawi program in 2024. Our donation supports an initiative that is transforming the lives of smallholder farmers amidst significant challenges.
Why Malawi?
In Malawi, where 80% of the population relies on agriculture, farmers face severe economic and environmental hurdles. With inflation soaring and extreme weather events disrupting crops, the need for support is critical.
Project Impact:
One Acre Fund has achieved incredible milestones:
- Over 109,000 Farmers Supported: Providing essential resources to enhance food security and livelihoods.
- Agroforestry Success: Planting over 9 million trees, surpassing targets and benefiting more than 450,000 farmers.
- Enhanced Resilience: Introducing legume insurance and innovative agroforestry models to help farmers adapt to extreme weather and improve their incomes.
- Future Plans: In 2024, the fund aims to support 135,000 farmers and plant over 11.7 million trees, further enhancing climate resilience and providing a solid safety net.
- Spotlight on Rose January: Rose’s story is a testament to the impact of One Acre Funds support. Despite facing repeated cyclones and droughts, Rose has managed to thrive. With One Acre Fund’s support, including additional seeds during tough times, she harvested 15 bags of maize in 2023, enabling her to provide for her four children and ensure they can go to school.
Our contribution helps build resilience and fosters prosperity in Malawi, driving forward One Acre Fund’s mission to uplift farming communities.
